FanDuel Predicts: where it includes sports, and where it doesn't

FanDuel offers Predicts everywhere, but sports contracts only in 18 states that do not have its sportsbook. In eight more, Predicts has no sports at all. FanDuel's own Florida support article puts it in one line: "Some states get Sportsbook, some get the full prediction-market experience, and some get prediction markets without sports." Its map does not show that difference, and the table above does.

The 18 with sports contracts are Alabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Utah. The eight without are Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.

FanDuel has described where sports contracts go in two different ways. Its December 2025 launch release said they would be offered "in states where online sports betting is not yet legal". Later it said it "would not offer sports contracts in states where it already operates a sportsbook" (Yogonet, January 2026), and reporting since describes them as available "in states where FanDuel does not operate a regulated sportsbook" (Legal Sports Report, June 2026). Delaware and Rhode Island fit the second wording but not the first: both run their own online sports betting, and both are on the sports-contract list. Predicts is not available on or near tribal land.

The ages differ too. In a state like Texas, FanDuel's only sports product is open from 18. In a sportsbook state like Ohio, betting on sport with FanDuel requires 21. It is the same app and the same brand, three years apart.

FanDuel's sports contracts trade on exchanges regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which says its jurisdiction over them is exclusive and in April 2026 sued Arizona, Connecticut and Illinois to make the point. The Ninth Circuit on 28 August 2026 and the Sixth Circuit on 25 September 2026 disagreed, holding that states may regulate sports event contracts. Nevada's regulator treats them as wagering, which is why FanDuel gave up its Nevada licence. Utah's attorney general calls them illegal sports betting. The question is open. We describe the product so you know which one your state gets, and we do not link to it.

The general picture, across every operator, is under prediction markets and US law.

How the two products differ in what you can do with them is set out in the FanDuel review.

Where you can bet on esports with FanDuel

Only through the sportsbook, only in a sportsbook state, and only where that state's regulator permits esports. FanDuel publishes no list of the states where it offers esports, so the table shows each state's own rule. Indiana and Pennsylvania do not permit esports betting, and New Jersey limits it to approved events where every competitor is 18 or older.

FanDuel Predicts is not an esports option on this page, whatever its app lists.

What FanDuel prices when esports is available is covered in FanDuel's esports coverage, and the books compared across every market are on esports betting sites. The fixtures themselves are on CS2 matches today, Valorant matches, League of Legends matches and Dota 2 matches.

How a state decides whether esports can be offered is explained in esports betting by US state.

FanDuel in states with Predicts sports contracts

In these states FanDuel has no sportsbook, and FanDuel Predicts includes sports contracts. Predicts is open from 18 in each of them.

FanDuel in Florida

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Florida, where the Seminole Tribe holds the exclusive right to sports betting, run through Hard Rock Bet. The FanDuel app does work there, offering FanDuel Predicts with sports contracts alongside daily fantasy, Faceoff and horse racing. The lawsuit filed in Florida on 8 October 2026 is against DraftKings, not FanDuel. Using a VPN or other means to reach the sportsbook from Florida breaches FanDuel's terms.

FanDuel in Texas

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Texas, which has no legal sports betting. The FanDuel app offers FanDuel Predicts there, with sports contracts, from 18.

FanDuel in California

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in California, which has no legal sports betting. FanDuel Predicts, with sports contracts, is what the app offers there.

FanDuel in Georgia

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Georgia, which has no legal sports betting. The app offers FanDuel Predicts with sports contracts instead.

FanDuel in South Carolina

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in South Carolina, which has no legal sports betting. FanDuel Predicts with sports contracts is the FanDuel sports product there.

FanDuel in Minnesota

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Minnesota, which has no legal sports betting. Minnesota is one of the 18 states where FanDuel Predicts carries sports contracts.

FanDuel in Oklahoma

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Oklahoma, where gaming runs through tribal compacts and sports betting is not legal. FanDuel Predicts with sports contracts is offered there, though not on tribal land.

FanDuel in Alabama

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Alabama, which has no legal sports betting. Alabama was among the first states where FanDuel Predicts launched, in December 2025.

FanDuel in Utah

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Utah, whose constitution bans all gambling. FanDuel's own eligibility page says sports event markets are available in Utah anyway. Utah's attorney general says such contracts are gambling, a federal court backed Utah against Kalshi in August 2026, and on 20 October 2026 the state sued Kalshi in state court. No action against FanDuel had been reported as of 21 October 2026.

FanDuel in the other eight sports-contract states

Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota complete the 18. FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in any of them, and FanDuel Predicts carries sports contracts in each. Delaware runs its own online sports betting, yet it is on FanDuel's sports-contract list. Nebraska votes on online sports betting on 3 November 2026, and if it passes, FanDuel's stated rule would end sports contracts there.

FanDuel in states where Predicts has no sports

In these eight states FanDuel has no sports product at all, neither the sportsbook nor sports contracts, even though its map lists them under Predicts. Each already has some legal sports betting of its own.

FanDuel in Wisconsin

FanDuel has no sports product in Wisconsin. Sports betting there runs through the tribes, and a 2026 law allowing tribal online betting is not yet live. FanDuel Predicts is offered without sports.

FanDuel in Nevada

Nevada licenses its own sportsbooks, and FanDuel no longer holds a Nevada licence: the state accepted its surrender on 12 November 2025, over FanDuel's prediction-market plans. FanDuel's own Nevada article says customers there cannot trade sports markets through Predicts, though other markets remain. In August 2026 the Ninth Circuit held that Nevada may regulate sports event contracts.

FanDuel in Mississippi

FanDuel has no sports product in Mississippi, where sports betting is offered at casinos. FanDuel Predicts runs there without sports.

FanDuel in Oregon

FanDuel has no sports product in Oregon, where DraftKings is the state's only online sportsbook, through the Oregon Lottery. FanDuel Predicts runs there without sports.

FanDuel in New Hampshire

FanDuel has no sports product in New Hampshire, where DraftKings holds the state's single online sports-betting licence. FanDuel Predicts runs there without sports.

FanDuel in Maine

FanDuel has no sports product in Maine, where online sports betting runs through the state's tribes, with DraftKings and Caesars. FanDuel Predicts runs there without sports.

FanDuel in Washington and Montana

FanDuel has no sports product in Washington, where sports betting runs through the tribes, or in Montana, where the state lottery runs it. FanDuel Predicts runs in both without sports. Washington's gambling commission treats prediction markets as unauthorised gambling.

If you are wondering about tax on a FanDuel win, the IRS rules are summarised in the FanDuel review.

One app across state lines

The FanDuel app changes with where you are, not where you live. In FanDuel's words: "If you travel between a Sportsbook state and a Predicts state, the app opens the experience available where you are." The sportsbook and Predicts keep separate wallets, so money in one does not follow you into the other.

VPNs and location checks

FanDuel checks your location before every bet. Using a VPN or other tool to appear in a sportsbook state breaches FanDuel's terms, and an account caught doing it can be restricted or closed.

FanDuel state questions

In what states is FanDuel allowed?

FanDuel Sportsbook is licensed in 24 states plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico as of 15 October 2026: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming. In the other 26 states, the FanDuel app offers FanDuel Predicts, a prediction market offering event contracts through CFTC-regulated exchanges, instead. Predicts includes sports contracts in 18 of those states and none in the other eight.

Is FanDuel available in Florida?

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Florida, where the Seminole Tribe holds exclusive rights to sports betting through Hard Rock Bet. The FanDuel app does work in Florida, but it offers FanDuel Predicts, a prediction market with sports contracts, along with daily fantasy, Faceoff and horse racing. FanDuel Predicts is regulated federally, and its legality under state law is disputed. Using a VPN or other means to reach the sportsbook from Florida breaches FanDuel's terms.

Is FanDuel legal in Texas?

FanDuel Sportsbook is not available in Texas, which has no legal sports betting. The FanDuel app offers FanDuel Predicts there instead, including sports contracts, for users aged 18 and over. Its legality under state law is disputed.

Can I trade sports on FanDuel Predicts in every state?

No. FanDuel says some states get the sportsbook, some get its full prediction-market experience and some get prediction markets without sports. As of 21 October 2026, FanDuel offers sports contracts in 18 states where it has no sportsbook. In eight others, including Wisconsin, Nevada and Oregon, Predicts has no sports at all, even though FanDuel's map lists those states under Predicts. In sportsbook states, sports are covered by the sportsbook instead. FanDuel's launch release tied sports contracts to states where online sports betting is not yet legal, and it has since said it will not offer them where it already operates a sportsbook.

What is the minimum age for FanDuel in each state?

It depends on where you are. In sportsbook states you must be 21, except in Washington DC and Wyoming, where it is 18. In states where FanDuel offers Predicts instead, you must be 18.

Does FanDuel change when I travel to another state?

Yes. The FanDuel app switches to whichever sports product is available where you are physically located, with separate wallets for the sportsbook and Predicts.

Can you bet on esports with FanDuel in every state?

No. Esports betting with FanDuel is only available through its sportsbook, in sportsbook states whose regulator permits esports, and the table above shows each one.

Help in your state

Betting is entertainment with a cost, not a way to make money, and every market on this page is priced so the book keeps a margin. Set a deposit limit before you place a first bet rather than after a losing run, and use the operator's own limit and self-exclusion tools if you need them. If betting has stopped feeling optional, GamCare, BeGambleAware and Gambling Therapy all offer free confidential support.

FanDuel's support pages say its global deposit limits apply across every FanDuel product, and that self-exclusion removes access to all of them, the sportsbook and Predicts alike. If you are worried about someone in your family, that is the setting to know about.
